Liverpool VS Chelsea Prediction
Last competitive game which “Anfield” will stage in season 2015-2016 and this comes with a midweek Premier League encounter between hosts Liverpool and their London rivals – Chelsea. Both teams can be massively disappointed from their EPL season but this will be general warm up for Liverpool and the upcoming UEFA Europa League final next week, when “Reds” from Merseyside will challenge reigning champions Sevilla at “St. Jakob-Park” in Basel, but first of all they have two remaining domestic games to play. Their home game against Chelsea is actually a postponed match from game week 30 and Jürgen Klopp will surely use it as one last chance to assemble his squad for the UEL final, while in the upcoming weekend visit in West Bromwich, German manager of Liverpool will use most of the youngsters or rotation players.
“The Blues” from London arrive in Liverpool with serious selection headache and after one really frustrating result from the English North West. Chelsea lost from Sunderland at the “Stadium of Light” and that was third defeat for Guus Hiddink’s men in the last three rounds – 2:3. However, it was preceded by a joyful result for all fans as the 2:2 draw against London rivals from Tottenham at “Stamford Bridge” was the result which has crowned Leicester City as the new EPL champions. Now Guus Hiddink has only two games in charge and except current visit in Merseyside, Chelsea welcomes Leicester City in Sunday afternoon, so these both games can be helpful for Antonio Conte’s future plans. Guus Hiddink will most likely use some players that haven’t enough chances to prove, but he must also provide an opportunity to the key players who are aiming towards Euro 2016 participation.
Guus Hiddink must pick his squad without the suspended captain John Terry while other concerns are coming due to different injuries. Branislav Ivanovic and Kurt Zouma’s absences will open space for someone between Abdul Baba Rahman or Kenedy, as they can both compete for the left-back, while youngster Matthew Miazga can fill the centre-back gap, next to Gary Cahill.
Loïc Remy and Diego Costa are both injured attackers in Chelsea’s roster and this opens position for Falcao, Alexandre Pato or Bertrand Traore, as all of them can compete for the striker role in Chelsea’s regular 4-2-3-1 formation.
English Premier League: Liverpool vs Chelsea – 11 May 2016 – Possible squads, formations, missing players, referee and betting tip
Both clubs have some missing names, not only Chelsea, as “The Reds” have to deal without suspended defender Mamadou Sakho. Thus Jürgen Klopp must make his choice for Dejan Lovren’s partner – not only in this game, but for the upcoming Europa League final as well. Martin Škrtel and veteran Kolo Touré will compete for that position in Liverpool’s formation, but as it comes to the upcoming EPL round – most likely Slovak defender will play next to Lovren. In attack it’s very likely that Jürgen Klopp will name his best men here and Adam Lallana, Roberto Firmino, Philippe Coutinho are all set to start as the attacking trio behind the target man – Daniel Sturridge. Of course, Christian Benteke can also be a choice here, but most likely Klopp will start with Sturridge here.
Considering the positions of both sides and fact they don’t have anything to play for in the remaining days of the 2015-2016 Premier League season, we certainly like the odds for high-scoring game at “Anfield”. We expect the best attacking mentality by both squads and this should come with some goals, especially when both managers won’t be able to place their best defenders. “Over 3 Goals” between Liverpool and Chelsea in Wednesday evening.
