Lillestrom VS Stabaek Prediction
Lillestrøm SK and Stabæk are set for their 15th game in Norwegian Tippeligaen, thereafter both clubs will mark half of their domestic season. Both teams already renewed their respective campaigns after the summer break around UEFA Euro 2016 and we can state that they won’t be pleased from the results so far.
Hosts from Lillestrøm took part in only one game and this was 10 days ago when “The Canaries” suffered home loss by Tromsø (2:4), which was second consectuvie home defeat for Lillestrøm on its “Åråsen Stadion”. However, they’re still in better position compared to Stabæk as Lillestrøm can feel safe, entering in round 15 with 17 points, which places them on 10th position and with six points above 14th – Vålerenga.
“The Blue Ones” from Bærum have ended season 2015 on third position but their season 2016 goes under completely different light. They were already eliminated by the Norwegian Cup (by Strømsgodset) and that happened in end of May, but however, they’ve entered in the summer pause with a 5-0 win against Start (in Kristiansand). Nonetheless, Stabæk will travel for Kjeller (near Lillestrøm), where Åråsen Stadion is located, in awful mood as they remain in the relegation zone and that’s not everything.
Stabæk has returned in European football after four years and “The Blue Ones” had to start from the first qualifying round in the UEFA Europa League, where downfall under Billy McKinlay’s management reached its peak. They were eliminated by a totally unknown team in Connah’s Quay’s face, as the Welsh club marked its European debut in stunning way – eliminating Stabæk. Indeed, “The Blue Ones” failed to score in both occasions and after the 0-0 draw in Wales, they suffered 0-1 defeat in Thursday night. Frustrating result for Stabæk which came few days after the 0-1 league defeat from Sogndal last Sunday. This caused Billy McKinlay’s departure and Stabæk will be led by Spaniard Antoni Ordinas, who has past experience in youth football and he was appointed only two days before upcoming clash against Lillestrøm.
Certainly a very good reason why we can place a medium stake on Lillestrøm here – very poor form of Stabæk, Europa League elimination which is combined with coaching rotation and visit against a club which is keen to end its bad streak at home (two defeats in a row). These defeats were preceded by three victories and two draws in the first five home fixtures and we do believe that Lillestrøm have really fine chance to claim all the points in Sunday night.
