Inter Milan VS AC Milan Prediction
At least on paper the new football season must promise more positive moments for both of Milan’s powerhouses as early in the third Serie A round we have another edition of the match between Inter Milan and AC Milan, which is known also as “Derby della Madonnina” or “Derby di Milano”. Season 2014-2015 was not so successful for both sides, neither the last couple of years were, as all domestic trophies went in one direction – at “Juventus Stadium”. Now “The Old Lady” started season 2015-2016 with two defeats in the first two legs and this encourages all Serie A pretenders that they have an opportunity for changing the quo, since Juventus will probably need some time for re-organization, since “The Old Lady” from Turin was left by key players like Andrea Pirlo, Arturo Vidal, Carlos Tevez. In this situation all looks are usually over the Roman clubs, or the teams from Milan, which opens a great opportunity for both Milan teams. Now we shall see how will they manage to use the moment, and more correctly is to say – will they?
Internazionale Milano is the symbolic host in Sunday evening which means that match is on “Giuseppe Meazza”, not on “San Siro” (practically the same stadium), as the venue which will welcome the UEFA Champions League final in the end of May (28 May 2016) will host another city derby, and we are sure that everyone in Milan regrets that both clubs are not involved in the Champions League battle, as well as in any of the UEFA competitions. Last season Inter finished on 8th position while AC Milan were even 10th, which left out both clubs outside the UEFA competitions. However, season 2015-2016 starts in a positive way for “I Nerazzurri” who are among the Serie A sides who have won maximum amount of points as they are on the top 5 positions alongside Chievo, Torino, Sassuolo and Palermo. Good start for Roberto Mancini’s men who were involved in two dramatic games as they began their Calcio campaign with an 1:0 win over Atalanta, while in the second round Inter won against Carpi. The hero in both matches was the summer signing Stevan Jovetić as the Montenegrin striker, who’s on loan from Manchester City, scored all from the goals and two from them were scored in the closing minutes – respectively in the 90th and in the 89th minutes of the first two rounds. Jovetic surely became the star name in Roberto Mancini’s roster so far, but some other from the new names are also playing very good role – those of Miranda, Jeison Murillo, Geoffrey Kondogbia, while we expect even stronger look from Inter as the club finalized few other deals in the closing days of the summer transfer window. Other new names on “Giuseppe Meazza” are Alex Telles, Adem Ljajić, Felipe Melo and Ivan Perisic, as Telles and Ljajić are on a season-long deal, while Perisic’s deal is estimated on €20 million. Some really serious transfers which are certainly helpful for strengthening the team in all fields.
AC Milan were very active on the transfer market as well, as “i Rossoneri” can’t boast with the same maximum amount of points like their city rivals. AC Milan started the new season with a Coppa Italia victory over the team of Perugia, but this was followed by a very disappointing defeat in Florence – 0:2 from Fiorentina. Anyhow, not only the result was a huge upset, since Milan was completely clueless how to score, though Siniša Mihajlović’s men were with 10 men in most of the time. Anyway, even when they were 11 on 11, AC Milan was very toothless again.
First Serie A positive for the “new AC Milan” came in the second round when “il Diavolo” played its first home match in The Calcio this season – 2:1 against Empoli, as both goals were scored by the summer signings Luiz Adriano and Carlos Bacca. All expectations are exactly over these two South American strikers who are coming with hopes for resurrecting the legendary Milan club.
Another interesting transfer were finalized in the last days of the transfer window when AC Milan announced Juraj Kucka and Mario Balotelli as the newest signings, but the latter is on a season-long deal, while the former Slovak midfielder of Genoa arrives on “San Siro” for an undisclosed fee.
Match prediction, betting bonus, possible squads and formations for the “Derby della Madonnina” between Inter and AC Milan – Italian Serie A – 13.09.2015
One thing’s sure here – this derby will have a bigger blast than in the last few, since now both clubs have real chances for something bigger and we are still in the opening weeks of the season. This will increase the confidence and the hopes of both sides who failed to produce some high-scoring games, as we have only 7 goals scored in the last 6 official “Milan derbies”. Only two of the games have 2 goals – both are 1:1 draws, while in season 2014-2015 the first game ended without with a draw – 1:1 in November, while the second one was in April and it ended without any goals.
In the pre-season friendlies both clubs met in end of July when AC Milan won over Inter – 1:0 in Shenzhen, city in southeastern China, but this time the situation will be completely different.
“The Nerazzurri” are searching for their first win over AC Milan since December 2013, when Inter won with 1:0, as Rodrigo Palacio scored the winner late in the game. Now Palacio is still in the team but we expect the Argentine to sit on the bench, while his fellow-Argentine Mauro Icardi will most likely leads Inter’s attack, as he will be supported from Steven Jovetic and Ivan Perisic, as we expect the Croat to receive his chance for his first Serie A start.
On other turn AC Milan will stick to the 4-3-1-2 formation, where Siniša Mihajlović will bet on the duo Adriano-Bacca once again, as the player behind them most likely will be Keisuke Honda.
Luca Antonelli, M’Baye Niang and Jeremy Menez are still injured.
Our expectations are that Inter has very reliable chances to earn its first game over AC Milan after almost 2 years of waiting and our pick goes for the symbolic hosts – Asian Handicap -0.25 (0, -0.5) on Inter.
Possible starting lineups:
Inter Milan: Handanovic – Jesus, Murillo, Miranda, Santon – Kondogbia, Medel, Brozovic – Perisic, Jovetic, Icardi. (4-3-3)
AC Milan: Lopez – Abate, Romagnoli, Zapata, De Sciglio – Kucka, de Jong, Bonaventura – Honda – Adriano, Bacca. (4-3-1-2)
