Getafe vs Real Sociedad prediction for an opening fixture from the Spanish La Liga schedule on Sunday, 29 October 2017. Getafe takes on the guests from San Sebastian at the “Coliseum Alfonso Pérez” near Madrid, where Real Sociedad will be keen to win its fourth consecutive game away from home. Find out what our betting analysts have to say in a detailed match preview, free betting tips and predictions.

H2H History: Getafe vs Real Sociedad

Last time when these two clubs met (21 April 2016) Real Sociedad was disappointed at home where Getafe made a full comeback and won 1:2. However, this wasn’t enough for them and later on Getafe relegated into the Segunda División.
There isn’t a home win in the last five editions of this clash – two draws and three victories for the visitors. Three from these games were in Getafe but Real Sociedad won just once – a narrow success from March 2015.
Overall La Liga balance between both clubs in the 21st century: 7 wins for Getafe, 7 draws and 4 wins for La Real.

La Liga: Getafe vs Real Sociedad 29.10.2017

Getafe returned in the top-flight of Spanish football after a season in the Segunda, but El Geta must perform way better to avoid a relegation battle later in the season. After 9 games Getafe have won 9 points only and lost three of their last four matches, including a midweek home defeat to Deportivo Alaves in the Spanish Cup.
Jose Bordalas surely demands more from his players, especially at home turf, where Getafe lost four out of five games. Nevertheless, we must highlight that except the mentioned midweek loss, previous home matches of El Geta were against heavyweight sides like Sevilla (0:1), Barcelona, Real Madrid (both 1:2), and Getafe lost each one of them in the closing 10 minutes. In the meantime, Getafe won 4:0 over another tough opposition in Villarreal’s face, so The Basques can’t afford to underestimate their opponents despite all negative results.
Eusebio Sacristan’s men will hope to maintain their good away run after winning the last three times, keeping a clean sheet in each one, on three different fronts. Indeed, Real Sociedad initially won (0:2) in a La Liga clash against the struggling Deportivo Alaves, which has been followed by a brilliant 0:6 victory vs Vardar Skopje in the UEFA Europa League groups, as well as a minimal win over Lleida Esportiu for the Spanish Copa del Rey on Thursday night.
Besides all positives on the road, Real Sociedad slipped at home last weekend when Espanyol has stole a point after a 1:1 draw at the “Anoeta”. Thus Real enters into round 10 as the team on 9th position with 14 points – 4 wins, 2 draws and 3 losses.

Match Preview: Team News, Squads and Missing Players

Real Sociedad have not only failed to scoop the whole set of points after dominating against Espanyol last week, but have lost one of their best players for the clash in Getafe. Asier Illarramendi is suspended after picking up two yellow cards and being sent-off in that game so Eusebio Sacristan must look for a replacement of the skilled midfielder.
Another midfielder, David Zurutuza, remains doubtful so he may be replaced by Ruben Pardo who is eager for more first-team football. Pardo can start in a central midfield trio alongside youngster Igor Zubeldia and skipper Xabi Prieto.
Portuguese defender Kevin Rodrigues has a knock too, which could see Alberto de la Bella start as a left-back if necessary.
Striker Imanol Agirretxe is still ruled out and there aren’t much doubts that Willian Jose will lead Real Sociedad’s attack, supported by Mikel Oyarzabal and most likely Adnan Januzaj through both flanks.
Getafe remains without injured Gaku Shibasaki and Jefferson Montero, while Karim Yoda is ineligible. Central defender Djene Dakonam and goal scorer Angel Rodríguez are both doubts, but should be fit to be part of Getafe’s group here. However, Jose Bordalas is expected to start with veteran Jorge Molina (2 goals) on top and Rodríguez (3 goals) can be an option later in the game, if he is fully recovered.
Winger Alvaro Jimenez is back fit and should start from the outset, probably at the expense of Francisco Portillo. Otherwise no other changes are expected in Getafe and Bordalas will name the same squad that won a point from Levante last weekend.

Getafe vs Real Sociedad Prediction and Betting Tips

Getafe proved to be a difficult bite for the major La Liga sides and has all arguments to chase a point, or more, against Real Sociedad on Sunday.
Visitors from San Sebastian are unbeaten in their last five games but Eusebio Sacristan surely remembers these four consecutive defeats before. A reason why we expect more cautious approach by Real Sociedad, although they are those who must chase the three points and eventually climb up in the La Liga standings.
Getafe will look to benefit from the expectations over Real Sociedad and mostly by the absence of Illarramendi, who admittedly is their key midfielder and one of the two best players in The Basque outfit.
Getafe have failed to win 11 of their last 12 home La Liga matches but have scored in 8 of them. Real Sociedad shows good form away from home and we find enough arguments to place a bet on the goal scoring markets. Our betting prediction goes for: “Both teams to score – Yes“.
