Pacos de Ferreira vs Portimonense Prediction, Preview & Betting Tips

We observe a very wealthy football schedule in Portugal lately, catching up our attention with another match on Monday night, 8 January 2017, when Pacos de Ferreira takes on Portimonense. The clash is set to take place at the “Estádio da Capital do Móvel” in Paços de Ferreira, Porto’s district, and is part of the regular round 17 Primeira Liga fixtures.
Pacos de Ferreira and Portimonense are finding themselves nearby to the relegation zone as the hosts have one point more from Estoril (17th), while the guests from Portimão can breathe calmly, for now, having four points lead above their opponents.
The most recent Primeira Liga meeting between both clubs was back in the 2010-11 season when first leg in Paços de Ferreira has ended in a draw (2-2), while “The Beavers” have won (1-0) their visit to Portimão, southern Portugal, just couple of months later. Anyway, Portimonense have took their revenge two years ago when they have won 3-2 in Paços de Ferreira, thereby qualifying to the League Cup semi-finals.

Primeira Liga: Pacos de Ferreira vs Portimonense 08.01.2018

Pacos will hope to wrap up the first half of the Primeira Liga campaign with some positivism, coming back home after a 4-2 defeat when visiting Rio Ave in the midweek. Their poor run has won them only a point in the last six rounds. They have scored seven goals in that time, but conceded 16, so “The Beavers” must definitely improve their defending if they really want to avoid a serious relegation battle in the upcoming weeks.
Led by the talented former Portuguese midfielder from the recent past Petit, Pacos de Ferreira must start winning again and they will try to benefit from the home advantage here. Pacos have won 11 out of all 13 points at home, having 3 wins, 2 draws, and 2 defeats only at their own stadium. Moreover, they hold a positive goal difference (9-8) when playing at home and were unbeaten before the two defeats in their last two home games vs Sporting CP and Boavista (1-2 in both occasions).
Portimonense have only won two times in their last 10 league games, drawing half of those. They are yet to win a game on the road this season (3 draws, 5 losses) and conceding over two goals per game, making them one of the worst away sides in the league, where we also find Pacos de Ferreira but they’re not the visitors right now.
Fourteen (14) of their 17 points in overall have been won at home. That’s why Vítor Oliveira’s men should improve their away performances if they hope to retain the Primeira Liga status, after they have won the second-tier of Portuguese football last year and thus being promoted from the current season.

Team News and Missing Players

FC Paços de Ferreira

Defensive midfielder Andre Leão is back from suspension and will be added in the line, as a partner of Pedrinho most likely. He will replace André Leal who started in the midweek defeat to Rio Ave.
Meanwhile, top scorer Welthon (4 goals) is still recovering from an injury and the forward should be replaced with Bruno Moreira, who scored twice after coming on as a substitution in last round’s defeat. He should start in a 4-4-2 formation, alongside Awer Mabil. Luiz Phellype can be another attacking option here.
Central defender Rui Correia recovers from a long-term injury so Petit will once more name the same centre-back duo – Miguel Vieira and Marco Baixinho, while veteran-skipper Ricardo usually stays on the bench.

Portimonense SC

Paulinho should get back in the starting lineup after playing 45 minutes in second-half of the goalless draw with Belenenses. Thus Dener can be pushed forward and should replace Wilson Manafa on the right wing, as the latter will remain on the bench.
Right-back Ricardo Pessoa is still injured and will miss out but Emmanuel Hackman can deputize again, after serving his suspension and returning into action against Belenenses. Defender Jadson and Nigerian winger Chidera Ezeh (both injured) are two other names who will most likely miss the travel on North.

Pacos de Ferreira vs Portimonense Prediction and Betting Tips

Portimonense have failed to score in their last four league games but are usually one of the sides who are capable of scoring. That’s why we expect a solid resistance by the away team here and Pacos de Ferreira’s defense may have a busy night, when they must hold Portimonense’s attacking line that is eager to end the goal drought.
Pacos de Ferreira have enough motives to seek the whole set of points and we expect an attacking mentality by the home side. Especially if they concede during the first-half. That’s the reason why our betting prediction recommends “Both teams to score & Over 2.5 Goals” in the clash between Pacos de Ferreira and Portimonense. They both have enough reasons to claim the win so we expect more open spaces and scoring chances for either side.
