Feyenoord VS Willem II Prediction
Saturday night, 21 January 2017, comes with lot of football action on most of the European football grounds. One of them is “De Kuip” in Rotterdam where Feyenoord takes on Willem II for a clash from round 19 in the Dutch Eredivisie. At the same time we have a game in Portugal, where likewise Feyenoord, another sleeping giant tries to awake. Last season Sporting CP missed its opportunity to lift a domestic league trophy after a long wait, but season 2016-17 may bring some exceptional vibes in Rotterdam. That’s why every remaining Eredivisie round arrives with even greater importance for Feyenoord, who are keen to win the Eredivisie for the first time after season 1998-99.
Match Preview: Feyenoord vs Willem II 21.01.2017
Feyenoord began 2017 in a same fashion they have ended 2016 – by winning with two goals margin. Last Sunday Feyenoord won 0-2 against Roda in Kerkade and maintained its five-point lead over rivals Ajax. A fine way to preserve its hope for winning the Eredivisie trophy, but however, Giovanni van Bronckhorst’s men must remain consistent to avoid any disappointment at the end of season 2016-17.
Willem II head to Rotterdam after losing its first home match in 2017, when last weekend Erwin van de Looi’s men lost 0-1 to NEC Nijmegen. It was Willem II’s second successive match at the “Koning Willem II Stadion” after a 2-1 win over Heerenveen in last round for 2016.
Team News, Squads and Missing Players
After these results Willem II occupies the 12th position with only 19 points won in 18 rounds. Erwin van de Looi surely demands more from his men but “De Kuip” is exactly one of the worst possible venues to bounce back. Anyway, Willem II prepares for three home matches in following four Eredivisie rounds, which doesn’t mean they won’t try to earn something from Feyenoord.
That purpose will be an extremely difficult challenge and Erwin van de Looi must claim it without three first-team players. Names of Freek Heerkens, Funso Ojo and Bruno Andrade are all in list of injured players.
Feyenoord aims to reach fifth consecutive victory and Giovanni van Bronckhorst will probably name same starting XI he used at the “Parkstad Limburg Stadion” in Kerkade.
Defensive midfielder Karim El Ahmadi is with Morocco at the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations so he misses out, but a midfield trio with Jens Toornstra, Dirk Kuyt and Tonny Vilhena looks really sharp.
Betting Prediction and Possible Lineups
Our betting prediction is fully based on attacking potential of Feyenoord. Willem II will try to be cautious and to defend, but we all know what can happen if the home side scores an early goal. Rotterdammers are favourites for a reason but when it comes to betting recommendations and value in that game, we recommend betting on goals. Betting Odds for “Over 3 Goals” are on our focus and we expect a high-scoring game between Feyenoord and Willem II.
Venue: “De Kuip”, Rotterdam.
