Udinese VS Lazio Prediction
Udinese and Lazio are both Serie A sides who’ll meet on Saturday night when the “Stadio Friuli” in Udine (or currently known as “Dacia Arena”) is set to host one of the round 7 fixtures. At the end of season 2015-2016 we’ve found teams of Udinese and Lazio respectively on 17th and 8th position in the Italian Calcio so it’s pretty obvious they both clubs are having higher expectations for the upcoming years. This simply means “The Zebrette” from Udine are keen to avoid relegation battle since they’ve finished with just a point above 18th placed Carpi, while Lazio’s target is to return on the European scene.
Udinese vs Lazio – Team News and Match Preview
Udinese returns at home after a narrow success against Sassuolo last Sunday, which was third game without a win for Giuseppe Iachini’s men. This places them on the 14th position before round 7’s kick-off and “The Bianconeri” from Udine have won just one point in their last three matches after a good beginning of their campaign, when Udinese won six points out of first three Serie A rounds.
Lazio head to the Friuli-Venezia Giulia region after a 2-0 win against Empoli, but “The Biancocelesti” are pretty inconsistent, as they alternate victory with a wrong step. Anyway, Lazio is still in position and Simone Inzaghi’s men will enter in round 7 as team on fifth position, with a wonderful chance to climb into top 3 before all Sunday games.
Udinese vs Lazio – Betting Prediction and Possible Lineups
Udinese began its 2016-17 season with two disappointing defeats when “The Zebrette” were eliminated after Coppa Italia’s opening round, losing by a Serie B side Spezia (2-3), followed by a heavy loss against the other capital city club – AS Roma (0-4). Nevertheless, Udinese have shown some positives when they’re facing against other solid Serie A sides like the 1-0 win in Milan (against AC Milan), as well as the 2-2 draw against Fiorentina in their last home game, where Udinese took the lead twice.
Lazio should be aware with that and Roman Eagles will have another tough bite in search of their first winning streak this season. They failed to win against Chievo in Verona (1-1 draw), while their last Serie A outing was a 0-2 loss by AC Milan. Results which are not the most inspiring for Simone Inzaghi’s squad, but at least at home Lazio does well. At least after the 0-1 defeat from Juventus in their first match at the “Stadio Olimpico” during season 2016-17.
Udinese’s boss Giuseppe Iachini is without injured quartet including names of Swiss right-back Silvan Widmer, Brazilian centre-back Samir, Icelandic midfielder Emil Hallfredsson and another Brazilian – winger Ewandro. This requires some changes so Frenchman Seko Fofana and his Greek teammate Panagiotis Kone are competing to start next to Sven Kums and Emmanuel Badu as a midfield trio in the preferred by Iachini 4-3-1-2 formation.
Simone Inzaghi has its own injury concerns and Lazio’s coach remains without goalkeeper Federico Marchetti, centre-back Bastos, right-back Dusan Basta and captain Lucas Biglia, who are all injured. This opens place for Thomas Strakosha, Wallace, Felipe Anderson and Danilo Caladi who are set to fill those gaps, which shows relatively good squad depth in Lazio’s nest.
Final conclusion and Betting Prediction
Neither of both sides are playing at their full potential, but “The Roman Eagles” seem to be one idea better. However, we expect Udine to benefit from its home advantage and we find good opportunities for “Both teams to score“. It’s really hard to predict the final 1X2 outcome of this match as we expect another difficult outing for Lazio.
Udinese have scored just once in their latest four fixtures against Lazio, losing three of them, as club from Udine struggles to find proper replacement of the legendary Antonio Di Natale, who retired at the end of season 2015-16 after achieving 227 goals and 63 assists for the club in all competitions.
Duván Zapata, Stipe Perica, Adalberto Peñaranda and Cyril Théréau are competing for the two positions on top of Udinese’s 4-3-1-2 formation and we think they might score as well.
On other side we have a potential attacking duo between Ciro Immobile and someone between Keita Balde or Filip Djordjevic, but Lazio’s main strength comes in their five-man midfield formation.
Our betting prediction goes for “Both teams to score – Yes“. This is a match which can develop in any way and this sounds like one where both sides are eager to score right before the break for international football.
