Experienced goalkeeper Rene Adler returned into action for Mainz 05 but this didn’t help to the Carnival club to avoid a heavy 0-3 loss vs Eintracht Frankfurt in the midweek DFB-Pokal quarter-final round. Couple of days after losing in Frankfurt, Mainz 05 will head to Sinsheim where hosts Hoffenheim will be keen to end their winless run by achieving first victory since mid-December, when Julian Nagelsmann’s men have earned a narrow success over Stuttgart.

Find out the possible starting lineups of Hoffenheim and Mainz 05, as well as our betting prediction with the highest betting odds available on the chosen market.

TSG 1899 Hoffenheim

Hoffenheim ended 2017 with a dramatic 2-1 defeat in Dortmund which has been followed by two draws and two losses in opening four rounds of the 2018 Bundesliga schedule. Thus Hoffenheim remains with 28 points only, leaving them on six points behind fourth-placed Borussia Dortmund, who occupy the position taken by Julian Nagelsmann’s side at the end of season 2016-17.
Nagelsmann can use all first-team players except midfielder Kerem Demirbay who picked up an injury in last round’s draw to Hertha, being replaced by Nadiem Amiri. Latter is expected to start once more and he will take Demirbay’s position in the following weeks since Demirbay, who is also a target of several major Premier League sides, damaged ankle ligaments and will be ruled out for the “foreseeable future”.
Lukas Rupp is expected to return in midfield where he should start alongside Amiri and Dennis Geiger. Meanwhile, Andrej Kramaric and Serge Gnabry are both favourites to lead Hoffenheim’s attack, especially when it has already been announced that Mark Uth is set to join Schalke 04 on a free deal this summer.

1. FSV Mainz 05

Guests from Mainz find themselves just over the relegation zone but still on the relegation playoff position – 16th, which means their Bundesliga future is a serious issue. Sandro Schwarz will have difficult days and nights in the upcoming weeks since Mainz 05 is set for two consecutive games on the road, followed by a home match vs Wolfsburg and a visit to another struggling side in HSV’s face. They must earn some points from these games and Schwarz surely hopes Hoffenheim will extend their winless performance in 2017, at least for the current leg.
Mainz 05 lost its DFB-Pokal visit to Eintracht Frankfurt on Wednesday night but it was obvious they can’t afford to compete for a trophy and Schwarz made some rotations for that game. We expect their best potential starting XI in Sinsheim and Sandro Schwarz will surely field a defensive-minded 3-1-4-2 formation, hoping to capture Hoffenheim on counterattacks. Levin Öztunali is the only injured player for the away side and he will miss out the upcoming Bundesliga round.

Bundesliga: Hoffenheim vs Mainz 05 Prediction and Betting Tips

Hoffenheim had three away games in four outings so far in 2018 as their only game at home turf has ended in a disappointing way – losing 1-4 to Bayer Leverkusen. Furthermore, Hoffenheim have won just two points in the last 5 Bundesliga rounds and we’re certain that Julian Nagelsmann and his men own potential for more, as we saw last year. Our betting prediction is backing the hosts: Hoffenheim will finally win and a struggling Mainz 05 seems to be the perfect match for that purpose – 1X2 Betting for a better value compared with the Asian Handicap odds.
