Fenerbahce vs FC Krasnodar Prediction & Europa League Betting Tips
FC Krasnodar won their first ever encounter against Turkish opposition but the decisive second leg of the UEFA Europa League round of 32 tie is set to take place near Bosphorus. Fenerbahce relies on its home advantage and enthusiastic home crowd at the “Şükrü Saracoğlu Stadium” where “The Yellow Canaries” must show determination, but to remain cautious as well.
Fenerbahce vs Krasnodar – H2H Stats: After winning 1-0 at the “Krasnodar Stadium”, FC Krasnodar flies to Istanbul with a slender lead in club’s first competitive duel against a club from Turkey. Victory over Fenerbahce was accomplished after an early goal by Swedish attacking midfielder Viktor Claesson, who obviously enjoyed to a memorable debut after joining FC Krasnodar from IF Elfsborg this winter.
UEFA Europa League: Fenerbahce vs FC Krasnodar 22.02.2017
One year ago Turkish club met another Russian team at the UEFA Europa League 1/16 finals when Fenerbahce eliminated Lokomotiv Moscow. Now Dick Advocaat’s men are keen to extend their strong home form in Europe where Fenerbahce boasts with 8 wins and only a draw in 9 games. A record that suggests their own stadium is an absolute fortress and that’s not surprising, since we all know how difficult playing in Turkey can be. Last time when Fenerbahce lost a home match in Europe was a surprising 1-3 vs Molde in first round of the 2015-16 Europa League group stage. However, a defeat has been followed by sufficient number of victories and Fenerbahce reached the knockout phase where team has been eliminated from Sporting Braga in the 1/8 finals. Although they won first leg in Turkey (1-0), Braga were extremely convincing in the second round and won 4-1.
Except seven wins and a draw in the Europa League, in that record Fenerbahce adds a 2-1 victory over AS Monaco in this year’s Champions League qualifiers. But after a 3-1 defeat in the Principality of Monaco, Fenerbahce had to continue its European journey from the Europa League playoffs. So far so good, Dick Advocaat’s men have won all their games in Istanbul and conceded just once in four games. Fenerbahce’s winning streak includes results like 3-0 vs Grasshopper, 1-0 vs Feyenoord, 2-0 vs Zorya Luhansk and the icing on the cake – 2-1 over Manchester United. These results and a last round victory against Feyenoord in Rotterdam, were enough to secure Fenerbahce’s first position in Group A of the 2016-17 Europa League.
Meanwhile, Fenerbahce are fourth in the Turkish Süper Lig where they have 10 points less behind rivals Besiktas. A goalless home draw vs Kasimpasa on Sunday afternoon was another disappointing result for Fenerbahce and also their third consecutive unsuccessful winning attempt. Last victory of Fenerbahce was early in February when they won at the enemy’s ground and knocked out Besiktas from the Turkish Cup round of 16.
FC Krasnodar can’t show any recent activity as of Fenerbahce since we all know about heavy winter conditions in Russia and long pause in Russian football. Nevertheless, after more than two months without competitive football Krasnodar returned with a stunning fashion by winning against Fenerbahce. Their previous official fixture was in last round of the Europa League group stage when “The Bulls” lost to Nice in a game with no importance. Schalke 04 were already certain Group I winners, whilst FC Krasnodar was sure for the second position after a draw vs RB Salzburg on matchday five.
The Russian Premier League, where Krasndoar winters on the fifth position, usually starts in March, meaning that FC Krasnodar is entirely focused within the UEFA Europa League. This is their third participation in the Europa League groups and second successive breakthrough to the Round of 32. Last season FC Krasnodar suffered two defeats from Sparta Prague on the same stage (0-3, 0-1) but twelves months later perspectives are brighter, influenced by a good score in first fixture against Fenerbahce.
Match Preview: Team News, Squads and Missing Players
Fenerbahce are doing well at home but last weekend Dick Advocaat’s men failed to win against a team which lost its last eight games vs them – Kasimpasa. The Dutch coach of Turkish giants had to make some rotations in the squad and mostly up front, as a result of suspensions. In fact Fenerbahce’s boss had to choose his starting XI without a trio featuring names of Alper Potuk, Jeremain Lens and Robin van Persie. Latter also missed game in Russia and we expect van Persie to return on Wednesday night, as well as Martin Skrtel, who was suspended for the first round.
Both full-backs Hasan Ali Kaldirim and Sener Özbayrakli were also rested in the weekend as we expect them well-rested against Krasnodar. Kaldirim played in closing stage of match vs Kasimpasa (less than 10 minutes), while Özbayrakli, Roman Neustädter and Emmanuel Emenike were on the bench. All of them were part of Fenerbahce’s starting lineup against Krasnodar on Thursday, but we expect Skrtel and van Persie back, possibly at the expense of Neustädter and Emenike.
Head coach of FC Krasnodar Igor Shalimov can be particularly pleased with debut of his winter signings. Left-back Cristian Ramírez and goal scorer Viktor Claesson were very useful and it seems they already feel well in Krasnodar, although they both have joined the club in end of January.
Swedish captain of “The Bulls” Andreas Granqvist is set to return after he served a suspension (Granqvist was sent-off in Nice) in the first leg, so he is expected to replace Aleksandr Martynovich in Krasnodar’s starting squad. Otherwise Igor Shalimov has no intention to touch the squad used less than a week ago, so we expect similar formation by the Russian side.
Fenerbahce vs FC Krasnodar: Betting Prediction and Possible Lineups
Fenerbahce traditionally are a good pick at home and we usually see high level of motivation in the Turkish clubs. Their home form in Europe is really impressive and we anticipate a really tough challenge for FC Krasnodar on Wednesday evening.
Our expectations are that Fenerbahce will prevail but this doesn’t mean they will qualify to the Europa League 1/8 finals. Indeed, after winning 1-0 in the first leg, Krasnodar holds strong advantage and scoring a goal in Istanbul can be crucial for the final outcome. However, we believe Fenerbahce will win the second leg vs Krasnodar and our betting prediction goes on the home side – 1X2 Betting.
Venue: “Ülker Stadyumu Fenerbahçe Şükrü Saracoğlu Spor Kompleksi”, Istanbul.
