Beroe vs Lokomotiv Plovdiv Prediction, Preview, Lineups & Betting Tips
Round 12 of the Bulgarian First League starts tonight when Beroe takes on Lokomotiv Plovdiv in Stara Zagora, for a regional clash between two clubs from Southern Bulgaria. Before the international break Beroe lost in Razgrad (2:0 vs Ludogorets) while “The Smurfs” from Plovdiv have ended their losing league streak (three games in a row) with a narrow success over struggling Septemvri Sofia at home turf. This shortens the difference between both sides to three points as Beroe currently takes the sixth position with 17 points, failing to win in the last two rounds.
On the other side Lokomotiv is with 14 points but their current football and overall atmosphere in the club do not deserve a top-six entry, especially when they travel to Stara Zagora without an experienced central defender Plamen Nikolov. Moreover, Lokomotiv Plovdiv lost their last four away games in the league, conceding 13 goals and scoring just once in that term. A negative streak which includes some disappointing defeats like the 3:0 vs Botev in Plovdiv’s derby, 5:0 vs Pirin Blagoevgrad, 1:0 vs Vereya (other club from Stara Zagora), 4:1 vs CSKA Sofia.
Greens from Stara Zagora are keen to win their sixth consecutive home win against Lokomotiv, which can happen on the day when former top-scorer of Lokomotiv, Martin Kamburov, hits 37. He is now in Beroe after a conflict with Lokomotiv’s owner on the eve of round one, and the veteran surely has what to say on the field against his former team.
Surprisingly, Beroe won 7 out of 17 points at home and have only 1 win at home soil this season – 2:0 vs Cherno More, which happened more than a month ago. Nevertheless, their defense is relatively stable and except a 0:3 loss to CSKA, Beroe conceded just two goals in five home matches. This will be extremely helpful for tonight’s clash and we sincerely believe Beroe have what it takes to win the game. Perhaps a victory with one goal margin, but we generally recommend betting on the home side (Asian Handicap -0.5), which is also influenced by the poor form and situation of Lokomotiv.
